Future Forms: Bridging Sci-Fi Visions with Tangible Design
This project explores the intersection of science fiction and reality by transforming futuristic concepts from films into tangible objects. Inspired by the visionary aesthetics of science fiction movies, I set out to bring these imagined futures to life. I began by sketching shapes that represent futuristic ideas, which led me to create 3D-printed objects that reflect the essence of my interpretation of science fiction. Through developing visual narratives and presenting these concepts in the form of vases, I aimed to convey my original vision. These vases are designed to symbolize the integration of futuristic design with natural elements, inspired by my research into both sci-fi aesthetics and practical future design solutions.
My research included examining classic sci-fi books and their digital visualization methods, attending the "Moving to Mars" exhibition at the Design Museum, and observing how contemporary designers are preparing for future habitation on Mars. This exhibition highlighted the use of nature, such as incorporating plants into buildings to generate oxygen and support human survival in extraterrestrial environments.
Inspired by these findings, I moved away from traditional architectural shapes and created vases with unique, futuristic forms. These vases feature flowers, symbolizing the essential role of plants in survival and their integration into future design. The project was realized using Adobe Photoshop Sketch, Blender, Adobe Illustrator, and Nikon Camera, merging digital and physical design processes to create a meaningful connection between science fiction and real-world applications.
